Various recipes organized in categories

With the application installed, you can go ahead and launch it to write down your recipes. The visual design consists of custom-made elements, all wrapped around a classic window frame. The overall design is appealing, and doesn’t pose any accommodation problems, even if it’s not fitted with helpful tooltips on mouseover. The initial launch allows you to select the category you want to explorer. There are 14 in total, and you can’t remove, or add others. On the other hand, these cover just about anything, ranging from breads and beverages, to main course and salads, to side dish, vegetables, or seasonal. You can’t come back to this menu except by restarting the application, but you can navigate through categories once inside the editor.

Editing, and export options

Regardless of the category you choose the editor shows up next, which is also the viewer, so careful when modifying values. The layout is intuitive, with a few requirement fields to fill in like title, ingredients, preparation, category and prep time, notes, and a picture. At the press of a button, existing details are sent to clipboard.Sadly, the application doesn’t show content of a category as a list, so you need to navigate back and forth to explore, or find a dish of interest. However, there is a built-in search option, which retrieves results instantly. There isn’t a direct export option besides copying to clipboard, but you can print a recipe, which can generate a file if there’s a virtual printer installed.

A few last words

In conclusion, pd-RecipeBook is sure to help you better organize cooking ideas, and new recipes in a simple manner.
