In depth

A closer look at NATO

Proper time management is sure to boost any domain of activity towards success. In case your work happens to be mainly performed on a computer, then you can use specialized applications like NATO to create task, set completion status, and generate reports you can then use in other projects.

Advantages of a portable app

On the bright side of things, the application is good to go from the moment download is done. This means it’s portable and can easily be carried around on a thumb drive so you can edit and manage tasks regardless of the computer you’re using. Registry entries remain intact, so there’s no need to worry about affecting the health status of the target PC.The visual design can feel a little rough around the edges, at least until you get used to the main set of controls. Moreover, the application comes with a few color themes for the main window, and you can also pick a custom color tint.

Create task groups and generate reports

One side of the main window represents the navigation panel which enhances selection and creation of tasks. These can be saved in different groups with tree lists created. However, adjusting order can be a little tricky because it’s done through a copy paste operation, and drag and drop is not supported.Tasks you create can be set to started, in progress, paused or more tags, for which it’s also possible to choose completion status. Details only include a description, and status history in the form of editable text. Reports can be generated, with a default template, but the application lets you configure your own.

To end with

All in all, NATO might feel a little rough around the edges, but once you get the hang of things it makes tracking tasks easy and efficient. It can easily be carried around with all tasks you create. An abundance of entries can be created and saved in a tree list, and even have reports generated.
