Kana Test is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you test your knowledge about Japanese characters, namely Hiragana and Katakana.

The tool is portable and can be stored on USB flash drives or other devices. You may run it without administrative privileges on a target computer. Plus, it leaves no entries in your Windows registry so you can get rid of it using a simple deletion task. Gaining access to its features requires only opening the executable file (you do not have to go through an installation process).

The training module implies that you write the correct answer for the displayed Japanese character.Tests are quite simple to follow. Kana Test reveals a Japanese character in the main window and lets you pick the right answer from multiple choices. It is also able to show the correct answer in case you have chosen the wrong one and display information about the number of correct and wrong answers.Statistics are kept for both Hiragana and Katakana tests, along with information about the test number, date, wrong answers, and number of questions.We have tested Hiragana and Katakana on Windows 8.1 Pro and noticed that it carries out a task quickly. It leaves a minimal footprint on system resources so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
