NetEmul : A powerful, comprehensive educational software used to design simple or complex networks and analyze data flow, creating various simulation scenarios
The Internet, in its somewhat physical form, is merely a staggering amount of computers worldwide interconnected through wires and wave signals to allow data flow from one user to the other. It's simply a massive-scale network, and with application like NetEmul you can create and visualize such connections, as well as data flow.
Create and analyze network maps
As an educational software, the application only serves analysis and informative purposes. The task is flawlessly accomplished and with little time spent browsing through provided functions, gets you quickly up and running.
Easily place and connect network objects
At it's core, the application lets you create networks without any limitations. The upper toolbar is responsible for holding all the objects you can place on the workspace. Simply clicking in a desired spot is enough to place an object that can be a computer, hub, router, switch and even a simple text field in case anything needs to be mentioned.A helpful grid lets you cleverly arrange elements around and once this is done you can start setting up connections by dragging lines from one object to the other. Once your design is complete, the application lets you directly print it out on a sheet of paper or save it under a specific format for later processing.
Send data packages and analyze path
However, the application is not only meant to design networks, with several analysis tools included. This technical side is incredibly well-organized and allows you to attribute addresses to all objects, and even send data packages from one computer to another in order to analyze path and speed.Logs can be accessed for components individually, but sadly, there's no implemented method to export gathered data. Furthermore, customization gives you the possibility to create packets to later use for testing your design, with fields dedicated for frame, IP, ARP, TCP and UDP.
In conclusion
To sum it up, enthusiasts, administrators and even beginners will surely appreciate NetEmul after only a few minutes into designing networks. It's incredibly easy to use and comprehensive, with customization options and design elements that surely make anyone understand the basic principle behind data flow in a network.
