Despite Valve’s best efforts, the Steam servers do sometimes go offline, which is why a utility that checks their status can come in handy, as opening your web browser every time isn’t particularly convenient.Steam Status is an open-source application that can help you in this regard. It lets you know how many of the Steam servers are online, displays the total number of online users and also monitors the status of several game servers.
Quick and simple Steam status monitor
Once you have installed the program, you can just launch it to instantly check if any Steam servers are offline. The application shows how many of them are functioning normally, in percentage form.Additionally, the application lets you know how many users are currently connected, and you can also see whether or not the CS:GO, DOTA 2 and TF2 servers are running as expected.When downtime is detected, Steam Status is designed to display a complaint about the president of Valve, Gabe Newell. Sadly, there were no issues with the servers during our tests, but this is certainly an amusing feature.

Sadly, the utility doesn’t provide you with more detailed statistics related to server status, so you can’t see which of them are having issues and how long they have been offline for the past few hours.Nevertheless, this application is suitable for users who wish to quickly check Steam status without firing up their web browser. However, it would have been great if the program could be minimized or sent to the system tray.

All in all, Steam Status is a no-nonsense utility that provides you a simple way to check if the Steam servers are running normally from your desktop. It doesn’t offer a lot of information though, and it cannot be minimized or sent to the tray are.
