A closer look at RSSTicker
This sidebar gadget will allow you to choose your own RSS feed and convert it into a ticker. In the docked state, shows item titles in ticker layout. In undocked state, shows ticker with links and date info. added. Set your own ticker speed and refresh rate. Use the Settings screen to key in your favourite RSS feed (defaults to BBC UK news). The Settings can also be used to customise the ticker rate and to customise the interval in minutes that the feed contents are refreshed. In the Docked mode, the ticker is around 20 characters. In the Undocked mode the window widens to show 90 characters plus the link for the Item at the front of the ticker together with its creation date and time. A third line displays information about the RSS Feed itself.
