Hektograph is a lightweight software application that helps you rip CDs and DVDs, and convert audio tracks to WMA or other formats supported by any installed codecs on your computer.

Portable tool

This is a portable program which comes with several benefits to your computer. You may run it by simply opening the executable file (there’s no setup included in the process) and copy it on any USB flash drive or other portable devices.It does not leave traces in your Windows registry so you can get rid of it by deleting the package that you have grabbed from the Internet.

User interface

Hektograph allows you to view information about your device, such as vendor, product ID, version, device type, ISO version, sectors, bytes per sector, capacity, and SCSI characteristics.Although it reveals a clean feature lineup, some of the tool’s features are hard to digest. A help manual is included in the package in case you have any questions regarding the utility’s capabilities.

Copy DVD and CD content

Hektograph works with CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM. You can export data to different image formats, such as ISO or CUE/BIN.What’s more, you are allowed to rip single or multiple titles or individual sectors as WAV files, automatically transcode audio streams via any installed WMA or ACM codecs, retrieve title name from FreeDB, as well as work with a template administrator to store frequently used commands. Last but not least, you can open and close the device’s tray and play audio tracks.

Bottom line

All things considered, Hektograph comes with a handy suite of features for helping you manage CD and DVD content. On the downside, it hasn’t been updated for a while so you may encounter compatibility issues on newer operating systems. The GUI is not highly intuitive so you may need to spend extra time in order to decode the program’s features.
