Rapidform EXPLORER is a comprehensive Windows utility whose purpose is to display the content of 3D scans and CAD designs. It features an extensive range of options and configuration settings mainly dedicated to experienced users who want to make adjustments, generate and export reports, as well as apply add-ins to enhance the app's functionality.

Lengthy setup and professional-looking interface

The installation procedure takes a pretty long time to finish (at least in our case), so you have to arm yourself with patience. However, Rapidform EXPLORER is packed in a pleasant and neatly organized interface whose professional appearance makes us temporarily forget that the tool is free to use.

Examine CAD designs and generate reports

After opening CAD files, it is possible to inspect elements in a hierarchical view along with their mathematical properties, toggle the model and report view, insert notes, as well as to use different selection modes for objects, such as rectangle, circle or polyline selection, which can be later translated into something else.Reports can be quickly generated from a customized model tree that may include the data, section and other fields, together with a cover page. Empty objects can be removed. Rapidform EXPLORER also lets you measure distances, angles, radius, sections, areas, volumes, mesh deviations, and virtual calipers.

Evaluation and conclusion

As expected from such as complex software utility, it requires a significant amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. No error dialogs were shown in our tests, though, and the tool did not hang or crash. All in all, Rapidform EXPLORER comes packed with a bunch of advanced tools and customization preferences for experienced users. On the other hand, it's too complicated for beginners.
