SolidWorks Viewer : Accessible, user-friendly and reliable software application that enables users to easily load and analyze assemblies and drawings
SolidWorks Viewer is a simple-to-use software utility whose purpose is to help you view SolidWorks assemblies, drawings and parts, namely files with the SLDPT, SLDASM, SLDDRW, PRT, SLDPRT and DRW. It sports a practical set of standard features for first-time and advanced users alike.
Lengthy setup and user-friendly UI
The installation procedure may take a while to finish but it does not require special configuration. As far as the interface is concerned, SolidWorks opts for a normal window with a plain and simple structure.
Basic settings for viewing models
After opening a file, you can zoom in and out, view the full pages, select between standard and user-defined views, rotate the model view, as well as view a cutaway of a part or assembly using one or more cross section planes. It is possible to hide the toolbars and status bar, as well as to customize basic page settings to prepare the model for printing. There are no other notable options here.
Evaluation and conclusion
There were no stability issues in our tests, since SolidWorks did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It is very responsive to commands and does not hog system resources because it needs low CPU and RAM.Although it is not particularly resourceful in its skill set, SolidWorks proves that it serves its purpose thanks to user-friendly and effective options. It does not require previous experience with SolidWorks projects to work with.
