Syntax Edit Pro is an easy-to-use source code editor that supports C++, JavaScript, Python, Pascal, HTML, Nullsoft Installer, LUA, SQL query, INI and VB script files. It was based on the Codejock Syntax Editor component and written in Visual Basic 6, using pure Win32 API to ensure execution speed and a lightweight package.

Simple source code editor with a clean interface

Following a fast setup operation, you're welcomed by a clean and intuitive workspace, where you can get started by creating a new source code file from scratch or by opening an existing file in one of the supported formats (.cpp, .ini, .sql, .js, .vbs, .html, .lua, .nsi, .pas or .py).Syntax highlighting is supported and autodetects the programming language. Syntax Edit Pro also displays line numbers and highlights the entire line of the cursor's current position. The status bar shows the line and column number of the cursor position and whether CapsLock, NumLock and Insert are enabled or disabled.

Syntax colorization, bookmarks, and break points

As far as editing options are concerned, you can switch to read-only mode to prevent accidental code modifications, create bookmarks and break points as well as find and replace text using a simple tool similar to the one used by Windows Notepad (it only adds a "match whole word only" option to the "match case").Besides the fact that you can disable line highlights, it's possible to view white space. Furthermore, you can change font settings (type, style, size, script), enable virtual space, and disable the vertical or horizontal scrollbar, line numbers, selection margin, auto indentation, and syntax colorization.

Easy-to-use and fast source code editor

We haven't come across any compatibility issues with Windows 10 in our tests. The application had a quick response time to commands and minimal impact on the system resources usage.Contrary to what the name suggests, Syntax Edit Pro doesn't come bundled with professional features. However, users looking for a fast and uncomplicated source code editor can definitely give a chance.
