EdiLogg : A modern-looking log viewer that can work with multiple files at once, providing integrated filtering, navigation tools and search capabilities
Log files can be opened with any text editor and there are users to prefer to stick to the classic Notepad when it comes to browsing such files. However, it might be a bit difficult to go through all the lines to find, for instance, the cause of a problem. EdiLogg makes log browsing much reader-friendly, providing highlighting, filtering, and searching capabilities.
Portable log viewer with bookmarking features
No installation is required to launch EdiLogg. Having it at your disposal at all times ready to be used is one of its additional perks.Moving on to functionality, a major advantage is that EdiLogg can work with multiple log files at once, opening each in a separate tab. On the downside, there is no keyboard shortcut to allow the quick navigation between tabs (e.g. CTRL-Tab).One of the features that makes EdiLogg stand out from the crowd is its bookmarking capabilities. It automatically assigns a labeled bookmark to each row in the opened log file, based on the content it reads. For instance, if the 'debug' keyword is identified within the row, the label will be 'DEBUG'. The default label is 'INFO'. Label tags can be customized to match your preferences but, unfortunately, there are no options to add new labels.
Integrated search, highlighting, and navigation tools
EdiLogg comes with navigation, search and filtering capabilities designed to ease your work. First of all, it can jump to a specific line in the log file. Secondly, it features a built-in search form with support for regular expressions, which can either highlight the matching results or filter them in the log file. Additionally, EdiLogg can highlight or filter data in the log file based on the bookmark label. Reverting the changes you made to the viewer only takes the push of a button. The file is shown in its original form once again.
A promising log browser
With its modern look and its feature set, EdiLogg offers a generally pleasant user experience. Overall, it is a promising alternative to traditional text viewers that are normally used to open log files. Enhancing it with custom bookmarks and keyboard controls would add to its value.
