Subtitles is a tiny and portable software program developed to help you edit subtitle files in a user-friendly environment. It supports the SRT, SUB and TXT formats.Since Subtitles does not come with a setup pack, you can simply extract the archive content to any location on the hard drive and run the executable file immediately.Otherwise, you can save Subtitles to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, and run it on any computer. Thus, you can carry the tool with you wherever you go.What's more important is that the Windows Registry does not receive new entries (minimizing the risk of system errors), and files do not remain on the hard drive after program removal.The tool is packed in a simple interface with an uncomplicated layout, where you can open a file by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" functionality.It is possible to add or subtract time from subtitle lines, enable reverse mode and specify the stretch time, as well as convert the format to SRT. Restoring settings to their factory values can be done at any time.Last but not least, you can use a tool to calculate the start and end time of two subtitle files, in order to swap these values, as well as alter the time in regard to addition or subtraction.Subtitles does not integrate a lot of configurable options. For example, you cannot open the video corresponding to the current subtitle file, in order to make real-time modifications in an accurate manner. But we must keep in mind that the tool has not been updated for a very long time.We have noticed a light consumption concerning the CPU and system memory, during Subtitles' runtime. Its response time is very good, and the app worked well during our evaluation, without hanging, crashing or popping up error dialogs. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, first-time users should quickly get adjusted to Subtitles.
