Overview

What is Plain View?

Plain View : Explore specific folders in order to analyze content of TXT files on the fly, and configure font options for a better reading experience

In depth

A closer look at Plain View

Plain text files can contain countless text paragraphs, and is one of the main methods of writing code for your projects. The output, TXT is a popular format, and can be viewed by most editors. To easily handle a large bunch of text files, Plain View combines an intuitive navigator, and configurable view space.

Can be used on the go

One of the main advantages here is portability, allowing you to carry it everywhere you go on a thumb drive, since no installation is required to make the application work. What’s more, system registry entries remain intact during use, so there’s no need to worry about the health status of the target PC.The application reads the source folder by default. Changing the location is easily done either by dropping a new folder over the main window, or using the built-in tree list navigator to reach a location of interest. One of the two panels is dedicated to navigation, with content of the selected folder neatly shown.

Configurable font options for both sections

The other half of the window is where the content of a selected TXT file is shown. The two sides can be configured in terms of side, with the possibility to hide the navigator for more reading space. Sadly, you only get to work with TXT files, but there are no editing options, although you have the possibility to copy strings to clipboard. To help with reading or analysis, the application puts several customization options at your disposal. As such, you can change the font style, type, color, size, and attributes for the browser, and reader component individually, with an option to return to default configurations.

On an ending note

Taking everything into account, Plain View comes with a light set of features strictly dedicated to quick analysis of TXT files. Sadly, there’s no built-in edit component, while file support leaves more to be desired. In spite of all this, it provides a comfortable experience in an environment you can use on other computers.
