Writing an authentic project or school paper can be quite difficult as you can find any information on the Internet and use it in your work. If you are handling numerous papers from your students or employees and you want to know if the content is 100 percent original, then CopyCat may be a good replacement for those complex and hard to work with programs to automatically detect the authenticity of multiple records.

Enter diverse files and easily compare them

The installation is over in a blink of an eye and uncomplicated. The provided interface is clear-cut and intuitive, accessible even to those less experienced. It consists of a source and comparator lists, along with a more detailed view, a progress bar and several useful commands at the bottom of the window. The process is quite simple, select at least one document for each category (source, comparator) and hit start. The operation is completed almost instantly, and the results are shown in the right panel, along with the two records and the similarity percentage.

Analyze the composition for each record

The supported file formats are TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX and PDF. There is no limit on how many items you can insert. Both indexes can be cleared once you're done. A nice addition is the analyze function, which displays a more detailed view of the two compared drafts, highlighting the exact terms and sentences from the both of them. Unfortunately, you can't change the color, nor directly edit the text from within the window for a faster correction process. Plus, the list can be exported to Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet and printed out.

Taking everything into consideration, CopyCat is a reliable and straightforward application that comes bundled only with the necessary components to offer a quick yet efficient method to compare multiple documents at the same time and detect the contained similarities. During our testing, the program performed the tasks swiftly and without any errors.
