TimeLogger : Log the time you have allotted to specific tasks over the course of the day and increase your overall efficiency, with this simple open-source program
When you have a lot of projects to work on, it can get very difficult to organize your time effectively and ensure important tasks aren’t overlooked. Thankfully, you can turn to specialized applications to make things easier.TimeLogger is a small, open-source utility designed to help you manage your time by keeping track of how long you have worked on a particular task. It may not be all that intuitive, but it is unobtrusive and can get the job done.
Lightweight task timer
Once you’ve installed the application, you need to add one or more of the projects you are currently working on. After they are added, you will be able to select them from the main UI when you want to start the timer. You can keep track of working time from the main window, which features a minimalistic design and takes up very little screen space. From here, you can see how long you have worked on a specific task and on all your projects.
Unobtrusive, but also not very intuitive
After starting the timer, you can just close the main window, as the application will continue running in the background and can be accessed from the system tray. You can also start or stop the icon from the tray icon.TimeLogger also offers some other interesting features, enabling you to analyze your workflow throughout the week. However, it can be quite difficult to figure out how everything works, as the menus are a bit confusing and no instructions are provided. The UI could definitely use an upgrade, as it looks somewhat outdated and features an unintuitive layout that may puzzle first-time users.
Simple work timer that needs a bit of polish
On the whole, TimeLogger does a few things right, but it has to be improved in a number of respects. It isn’t particularly intuitive, and it offers a fairly limited set of features, but it is, at least, very unobtrusive.
