InfoPad : Have your important notes stored in a book-like window fitted with a search function to easily jump to strings of interest thanks to this practical application
Windows introduces a bunch of helpful features with each iterations, and some time ago, desktop sticky notes saw daylight. However, not everyone feels comfortable working with default tools, but there are tons of third-party alternatives. For instance, InfoPad comes as a simple replacement for the sticky notes tool.
Java required to function
Since there’s no setup involved to make it work, the application is good to go from the moment download is done. As such, you’re free to try it as soon as it reaches your computer, but not only this, it’s also possible to carry it around on a thumb drive. Just make sure that the computer you use it on is fitted with Java Runtime Environment.A sample note shows up on your desktop as soon as you launch the program, showing a welcome message and a few helpful hints to quickly get you started. You get to work in a single window instance, which can be resized to meet your demands, and placed anywhere on the desktop. Sadly, it can’t be made to stay on top of everything else.
All notes stored in a single window
Although the application doesn’t allow you to have multiple instances active at a time, or even different windows for individual notes, it is possible to store multiple notes. Each text string of choice can be saved on the current page, while the provided navigation buttons make it possible to scroll through all entries.Unfortunately, there’s no list to display a short description of notes for easy selection, but there is a search field at your disposal to easily find strings of interest. Existing files can’t be loaded, not even plain text files, but content is saved on exit.
In conclusion
All things considered, we can state that InfoPad is a straightforward tool which can come in handy for taking notes on a particular type of project. Creating notes for different types of activities can be a pain, because they’re rather difficult to identify, even through the built-in search field.
