Overview

What is DOSPrint?

DOSPrint : A system tray application and a Windows service that can capture existing LPT ports to a local or network print queue, enabling you to redirect tasks

In depth

A closer look at DOSPrint

DOSPrint is an application that enables you to create print queues by redirecting tasks to another device in the network. What it actually does is capture the line print terminals, enabling you to assign a shared printer or a fax device to one of the ports, which will take over the printing job.

Capture LPT ports to printers or fax machines

DOSPrint can help you create local or network printing queues much easier. For instance, if your computer is equipped with more LPT ports and you have more than one connected printer, you can use this application to assign them printing tasks in a specific order. It can run as a standalone application and a Windows service, requiring administrative privileges to function. In the first mode, it runs silently in the system tray, enabling you to access its options via the right-click context menu.

Launches as a tray application or a service

DOSPrint captures up to nine LPT ports, enabling you to conveniently set the hardware component to redirect tasks to. You can perform this operation within its main window, where all the ports are displayed, along with the target printers or fax devices. Canceling a redirection is easily done by selecting it and pressing the 'Remove' button. The program has the advantage that it can send a task directly to a NDPS printer, without having you create a NetWare print queue. When launched as a service, the application can be controlled via the command prompt, providing options for capturing a LPT port to a printer, removing the redirection and viewing the capture status.

Create local or shared print queues

DOSPrint can easily capture existing LPT ports to a print queue, giving you the freedom to decide the printing order and the used devices. Delivered inside a lightweight package, it works for both local printers and devices shared across the network.
