In depth
A closer look at miLife
Since the desktop can be used as a slideshow for your picture gallery, it’s a shame to mess it up with a variety of files and folders you don’t even use too often. Alternatives can come in the form of applications like miLife to help you keep the desktop a clean space by setting up a cool launcher for files, applications, and websites. The application takes little time to install, with the possibility to have it launched right away. Unfortunately, the main window can’t be resized, and it can take quite some space. What’s more, it can’t be minimized to the tray area or taskbar, but it does automatically fade when left idle for a little while. You only get to work with three preset categories for applications, files, and links. Adding items can’t be done through drag and drop, but the creation process is pretty intuitive. All your effort narrows down to writing a name for the new item, and providing the path to the executable or the link when you add a website.
