FileLister - A simplistic piece of software that comes bundled with limited features for helping you create lists with files and directories, which can be exported to plain text file format
FileLister is designed to display a list with all files from a specified directory. This type of application may help you organize music, movie and photo collections, as well as get ready for a Windows reinstallation by taking note of all files needing backup.
Old, yet functional program
Although it hasn't received updates for a long time, it worked on newer Windows models in our tests without any issues. The fullscreen format and graphical elements of the installer remind us of older Windows software. However, it doesn't have special options, software requirements, or third-party offers bundled.
Plain and simple interface
The interface is user-friendly, represented by a standard window that reveals all options put at your disposal by this utility. You can resort to the built-in folder view to explore disk directories and find a target, in order to list all containing files.
Configure settings before generating lists
Before generating a list, you can indicate the directory level to take into account. For example, you can list files from the parent folder only, include subfolders up to 3 levels, or use all subfolders. Moreover, FileLister gives you the possibility to list all files with all extensions, or to filter them by type, such as JPG, GIF, BMP, TIF, AVI, MPG, PNG, WAV and EMF.
Create, append and save lists
After creating the list, you can examine the full path of each identified file, find out the total files and processed folders, as well as edit this list straight in the main window if necessary before saving it to file with the TXT format. Otherwise, you can append it to an existing list.By opening the right-click menu, it's possible to undo actions as well as to cut, copy, paste, delete or select all text. Keyboard shortcuts are supported.
Finally
It may be old, but FileLister comes equipped with handy options for generating file lists, and it can be easily used.
