PowerOff is a simplistic software application which enables you to quickly set up a power management option for your computer based on a countdown timer. For example, you can schedule it to shut down or log off after 45 minutes or 6 hours from the moment of action.

Set the power option and countdown timer

After a fast setup operation, you're welcomed by a small frame that shows all options provided by the program. It's possible to power off or restart the PC, enter standby mode or hibernation, turn off the monitor, run the screensaver, log off, or switch to another user.As far as the countdown timer goes, the action can be automatically performed after 5, 10, 20, 30 or 45 minutes, or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 hours. Alternatively, you can apply the action now, in order to test the tool. Unfortunately, there are no options implemented for entering custom countdown time or fixed time.

Runs in the systray

PowerOff gets minimized to the taskbar, so it doesn't interrupt your regular PC activity with balloon messages. However, it doesn't show an alert right before going through with the power option, in order to give you the possibility to cancel the task if you change your mind. Apart from the fact that you can check for software updates from the systray, there are no other noteworthy options.

Evaluation and conclusion

It didn't put a strain on the computer's performance throughout our evaluation, running on low CPU and RAM. But it displayed an error dialog during setup, which we were able to skip to finalize installation. The main app window cannot be moved from the center of the screen, nor resized.To conclude, PowerOff offers a simple solution for scheduling an auto power option on a countdown timer. However, it hasn't been updated for a long time, and you are likely to encounter stability issues on later OS editions.
