Not too many years ago cellphones were still a couple of steps away from being able to play music and ringtones in the digital formats we are accustomed with today. MIDI was the standard and polyphony a bliss for the more advanced terminals. Transferring music from a PC or another phone was out of the question, but some devices were equipped with composers, which meant pretty much any tune could be translated into text and typed manually, then the mobile phone would play it back. Since many songs and ringtones were available online, in order to test them before wasting minutes typing the code, some dedicated applications were created and RTPlay is one of them.
