The application is also removed from the Alt-Tab chain, so it won't disturb your task switching. You can later access its window by un-hiding it, by right-clicking the small Hide-it icon in the System Tray. Hide-It is ideal to use when you have some application that you must keep running all day long, but you don't really need to check often.
