LanExplorer intercepts packets in and out of the workstation or server and it can capture all packets from the network segment. It decodes 802.3, VLAN, Apple, Novell, Microsoft, TCP/IP protocols. Accumulated and historical network statistics are displayed and threshold alarms can be set. It can also show a network manager who was connecting to what Internet site; discover all local PC hosts in different network segments, and it queries a DNS to translate remote IP addresses into Internet site names.
