Overview
What is Barney?
helps Internet Service Providers prevent users from having their systems over-used or abused by their users.
In depth
A closer look at Barney
Barney helps ISPs retake control of their remote access equipment. This is accomplished by routinely scanning all access devices for current logins. Data from these scans is analyzed to identify multiple concurrent logins by the same user. The number of logins is compared to configuration parameters to determine if this is "approved". If unauthorized access is detected, Barney can be configured to react in several ways, including adding the user to a "warned" list and notifying them of their transgression, sending e-mail to administrator(s), and even automatically denying continued access. Users in the "warned" list can be auto-upgraded to the "banned" list through subsequent transgressions.
