In depth

A closer look at Versamap

With Versamap you can annotate the maps with text, display labels next to the points they represent, plot your own data with a variety of symbols, plot great circles, select the geographic features to be plotted, select the background and grid colors, and more.

The maps can be viewed on the screen, printed in publication quality, or exported as bitmapped and vector graphics files (e.g. BMP, WMF, CGM, DXF, PIC, or ASCII format).

The map projections include: mercator, equirectangular, hammer equal-area, robinson, equidistant conic, conformal conic, albers equal-area, gnomonic, stereographic, orthographic, vertical perspective, azimuthal equidistant, azimuthal equal-area, and universal transverse mercator.

The maps include boundaries for the new countries formed from the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, for Eritrea, for Canadian Provinces, and for Australian States.

Versamap plots maps from World Data Bank II and from the U.S. Geological Survey's Digital Line Graph database.
