is an excellent image editing and drawing package designed especially for creating Web graphics.
Fireworks was designed to make it easy to create buttons, image maps, animated GIFs, or any type of Web graphic. An export preview window lets you slice, crop, and scale images to optimally balance file size with image quality. Image mapping tools are built into the program, and a slice function lets you convert large images into smaller ones that are displayed inside an HTML table.
Although image editing can be done at the pixel level, Fireworks lets you take advantage of drawing tools that use standard Bezier editing techniques like those found in PhotoShop, Corel Draw and Fractal Painter. You can add special effects to any object (such as bevels, blurs and drop shadows) and as you edit text, special effects are re-applied, so you never have to re-type.
Fireworks offers a full selection of brushes and fills, animated GIF creation tools, and the ability to create cool JavaScript buttons and rollovers.
All popular bitmapped graphics formats are supported and Photoshop, FreeHand and Illustrator drawings can be imported with layering and channels intact.
