Adobe GoLive allows you to create new QuickTime movies using the QuickTime movie editor, which includes a timeline editing module. You can also precisely place objects on pages, using a layout grid, boxes, and rulers; select and group multiple objects, even within a table; and automatically align and distribute objects.

You can also create, place, and change master objects on pages throughout a Web site; play multimedia elements and Java applets while working in a WYSIWYG layout mode; import tab-delimited ASCII text into tables; place, convert, and resize images, including the GIF, JPG, and PNG formats; and visually create and edit Web pages with frames.

Additionally, you can create HTML 4.0 Web-based forms; drag ActiveX objects onto your HTML page; select from a wide range of color palettes, including Web-safe colors; and simultaneously use multiple language character sets.

The program includes advanced site management and visual site creation, which let you view both link and navigation hierarchy, maintain links for QuickTime movies and ShockWave and Flash files, preserve absolute links, import existing sites, visually check and repair broken links, automatically generate sites from templates and master pages, and spell-check a single page or a complete site.

You can also easily upload or download individual Web pages or an entire Web site via the built-in FTP client; quickly open and edit HTML documents on a Web server; maintain sites with pages on multiple Web servers; and display estimated download times for a Web page.

In addition, you can create and edit internal and external style sheets, create and control floating layers, control the layout mode to match different browsers, read and preserve ASP and XML code, automatically check HTML syntax, and color highlight different parts of your HTML source code.

Adobe GoLive also enables you to search and replace using grep-style, pattern-based searching, and super fast, index-based searching; print the map of your Web site; integrate the Portable Document Format (PDF); and much more.
