is a relational database application to help you easily manage information from your desktop, across your network, and on the Web.
Starting with raw data, it's fast and easy to create working databases. To help you get started quickly, it comes several ready-to-run templates for business, home, and education, including Web templates. (This trial version lets you use only a sample of the templates.)
This version of FileMaker Pro answers a wide range of database needs--from transforming Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into fully functional FileMaker Pro databases, to operating a retail business on the Web using built-in CGI tools.
With the Instant Web Publishing feature, you can have direct access to FileMaker Pro databases to search, edit, delete and update records via a standard Web browser such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, without the need to create any Web forms or HTML. The Custom Web Publishing feature provides you with built-in CGI tools to let you tie interactive FileMaker Pro databases to your Web site. Support is even provided for Cascading Style Sheets and QuickTime VR.
FileMaker Pro also features a built-in point and click ODBC SQL Query Builder, that lets you query ODBC data sources without requiring SQL programming expertise. You can either import data into a pre-existing FileMaker database, or create a completely new FileMaker Pro database directly from such data sources as Oracle 7, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access 97 or Microsoft Excel. Once a SQL statement is executed within FileMaker, an entire database complete with data and fields is created automatically.
