PC Accelerator lets you control a variety of system settings that can boost your computer's network, video, and overall performance by as much as 35%, if configured properly. It features a talking Microsoft "agent" personality to guide you through the optimizations.

Proper TCP/IP settings can increase your computer's communication throughput. PC Accelerator configures these parameters to match your connection speed, whether you are on a fast LAN or a restricted-bandwidth modem. It can adjust "MaxMTU," "TTL," "RWIN," "MaxMSS," and more.

If you have a 3Dfx or Riva TNT graphics card, PC Accelerator has a number of performance enhancements. It can adjust the "PixelFX/TexelFX Clock," and set the following options: "Fast V-Sync," "Fast Memory," "Fast PCI Read," "Fast RAS Read," "Fast 24-bit Rendering," "Dual Monitor Mode," "Abstract Lighting," "Disable Textures," and "Advanced Anti-aliasing."

The program also has several options for the BIOS and the Windows File System. You can disable Windows animation and smooth scrolling, enable "live" scrolling in Microsoft Word, set the disk cache to maximize hard drive and CD-ROM speed, and more.

Several utilities are included with PC Accelerator, including: ICQ Backup, a utility that lets you backup and restore your critical ICQ files; Game Vault, a game code database that can be used to store, view, and print codes, walkthroughs, and high scores; Security Control, which protects your windows environment; Voyager, an Internet Explorer-based browser that protects users from indecent material on the Web; Cache Killer, a program that cleans out cache and temporary directories at specified time intervals; Game Config, which allows you to optimize popular first-person games by up to 40%; and Quick Shutdown, a System Tray based utility that allows you to launch programs and other functions with one or two clicks of the mouse.
