runs transparently in the background to help prevent annoying e-mail from reaching your Inbox.
Spambam uses three methods for defeating spam.
Incoming messages are checked against a black list. The black list contains domains and inviduals that are known for spamming. It also checks for patterns that appear in the headers of spam. The black list keeps itself up to date without any user intervention.
Mail is also checked against a "green list" that you create which contains sender addresses and filter patterns of e-mail that you wish to not have filtered for spam.
Finally, Spambam checks for typical spam indicators, such as the absence of your e-mail address in the "To:" or "CC:" headers.
Any suspected spam will be flagged by having the string "[SPAM]" attached to the subject. You can set up your e-mail application to process spam it by deleting it, sending it to a separate folder, etc.
