A closer look at NotifyMail

Unlike many notification utilities that check periodically for new e-mail, NotifyMail listens passively for a finger connection. This approach has the benefit of consuming very little system resources, and it also means that you will be notified when new mail arrives instantly.

Once new mail arrives, the program can play a sound, display a dialog box, or launch a file. If you use Eudora, Pegasus, or other MAPI-enabled e-mail programs, you can have your e-mail automatically downloaded from the server. In addition, NotifyMail for the Macintosh can operate in conjunction with Natural Intelligence's DragStrip, a program launching utility, by adding a mailbox to one of your strips.
