A closer look at Check Email Pro

Designed for network administrators and experienced users, the program tries to connect with the SMTP e-mail server of each address in your plain-text address list file, and simulates the sending of a message. Rather than actually sending the message, Check Email Pro disconnects as soon as the mail server reports whether or not the address exists.

The program can check at most 3,000 addresses per list, but it includes a splitting utility for larger address lists. Once checked, you can filter a list to output files with only good and/or only bad addresses.
