RecycleBinEx : Have files in the Recycle Bin automatically removed after a specific period of time, or apply different filters to manually decide what goes, and what needs to be recovered
By default, all files you delete end up in the Recycle Bin. They still take up disk space, and it’s best to frequently empty it. There is a solution to permanently delete files directly, or limit the amount of disk space attributed to Recycle Bin. However, you can have old files automatically removed with enhancements like RecycleBinEx.
Lightweight, and easy to use
It takes little time and effort to install the application on your computer, letting you take it for a spin in a short while. On launch, the main window shows up, with a large list displaying all items in the Recycle Bin. Corresponding details like name, location, deletion time, and size are also shown, with options to filter according to these column headers. The status bar shows you the total number of files, as well as disk space they keep up for no reason. There’s no button to have all files removed directly, so you need to first select them all at once, or take the time to sort through the list and decide what stays, and what goes.
Automatic removal of old items
In case you’re only interested in removing old items, there’s the possibility to sort the list to show files from 2 days ago, and up to the last three months. Selection of these files is easily done by clicking the corresponding list delimiter.Among others, the upper toolbar is home to a search field, to see whether or not you can recover files. The list is filtered in real time, as you type. However, recovery needs to be done from the Recycle Bin, because there’s no built-in management function other than to remove.Needless to say that the list of files is automatically grabbed from Recycle Bin. Unlike the default Windows feature, the application can automatically remove items older than a specific number of days.
In conclusion
All in all, deleting files also needs to be carefully done, and the Recycle Bin offers you a chance to recover them in case you decide you need them later on. RecycleBinEx comes as an enhancement, offering the possibility to keep items on your PC for a specific amount of days, and then have them automatically removed.
