Simple and straightforward graphical interface

The application installs rather quickly and it doesn't come with a complicated setup that you would need to complete before you can actually use it.It sports a really intuitive and clean graphical interface that makes it easy to navigate through various sections and get detailed information. It doesn't have any tips or instructions, but you wouldn't really need them since the application is quite simple.

Adjust some options before you get started

It displays some details on your hard disk, like the manufacturer, capacity and total work time in hours and days. You can adjust some options inside the application, have the program run at startup and adjust the poll interval by setting as many seconds as you want.The minimum is of 10 seconds. It lets you set the critical temperature for your hard disk, the default critical temperature is 55 degrees Celsius and it would have been nice if you could change the unit of measurement.

Get reports on your hard disk

It also lets you set an action to be taken when your hard disk reaches the critical temperature. Pick from automatically shutting down your computer, displaying a notification, suspend or hibernate your system, play a sound or send an email.You can also set a minimum free space and pick an action for when that happens. You will need to configure the email and type in the SMTP server. It displays reports on hard disk details, but you can't print them.All in all, Hard Disk Monitor is a small but very useful application for monitoring the temperature of your hard disk, but it could use some more features.
