Once you have selected a directory, you can choose to include sub-directories, hidden or empty files to your search. If necessary, you can include into your search various file extensions or exclude LNK formats. Also, you can enter the minimal and maximal file size for quickly locating specific files.

Search progress and results

The program uses an advanced search algorithm that sorts files by their size, since they can only be identical if they have the same size. Then, those files that have the same content are compared with one another ending the search process. Once the application finds several files of the same size but with different names, it allows you to open them and verify if their contents is the same. Moreover, you can save time by displaying only duplicate files found in a specific directory or sub-folder, as well as files that match a certain mask.As soon as the search process is completed, the results can be stored anywhere on your computer as text files.

Performance and conclusion

Duplicate Files Finder runs on low system resources and did not display any pop-up error messages during our tests. Although using the application is very easy, the software solution doesn't come with a help file, that might come in handy for beginner users.
