produces guitar tabulature from MIDI files.
Tabulature (TAB) is a popular form of written notation for guitar. It is easy to learn, and requires less guesswork than standard notation when it comes to locating guitar notes. For example, many notes on a guitar are identical in pitch but located on different strings and frets. While standard music notation describes which notes to play, TAB also describes where and how to play them.
COMP-G-TAB loads standard MIDI files to generate guitar tabulature. It graphically displays the tabulature, and optionally prints or saves it (as ASCII text). COMP-G-TAB includes options for transposing notes, altering tuning, selecting fonts and colors, changing the number of tabulature positions per line, and much more.
The program can display detected chords above each measure, and can automatically change the selected measure during MIDI song playback to help you follow. It can adjust low or high notes to fit on the guitar fret board by moving them up or down by octaves, and it can reformat the tabulature to look like bass tabulature (with four lines instead of six).
