is an interactive music tutorial designed by music teachers for use in schools and private studios.
It includes a wide variety of graded activities. Many activities use digitized sound to reinforce pitch and rhythm concepts (no MIDI keyboard is required). The program responds silently with the correct answer after an error, so students learn in a positive way as they play.
Specific skills include: reading notes in the treble and bass clefs, matching manuscript notes with keys on a piano, aural recognition of melodies and rhythms, aural recognition of scales and common intervals, recognition of note names and their durations, review of common Italian terms and music symbols, recognition of common chords on manuscript and keyboard, and aural recognition of major and minor tonality.
Musicianship Basics was designed by music teachers for use in a classroom environment of students aged 8 to 14. Music teachers in private studios may also find the program useful for helping students consolidate basic musicianship skills during the first 2 years of study.
