Unreal Player Max lets you choose between three basic interfaces interfaces: a full size mode, a small mode, and a tiny "coolbar" mode. You can customize the interface by selecting which MP3 tags to display and which screen fonts to use or by creating your own panels. A VU meter can be optionally displayed.

There are a variety of playing options and a unique "DJ" button gives you control over a wide variety of sound parameters, including reverb, delay, surround stereo, fade-in, and pitch. The program comes with a playlist editor. It features keyboard shortcuts and it can retrieve CD information from an Internet CDDB server. In addition, any file that is being played can be saved as a WAV file.
