Overview
is a complete radio automation system for MP3 music.
In depth
DRS 2006 is not a simple MP3 player. You can make play lists with other MP3 players, but DRS 2006 can handle thousands of MP3 files in a database. It lets you edit cue points, intros for ramp talks, and much more. That means your songs can fade into each other like on a real radio station. DRS 2006 contains several modules, including an "Audio Manager," "Playlist Editor," "On Air Studio," "On Air Analyzer," "On Air Editor," "Autoplay Manager," and "Database Connector."
The "Audio Manager" lets you add MP3 files to the database. It reads MP3 tags, so almost all information is automatically inserted, but you can also change or add special information. You can edit mixer options (such as fade times and cue points) and edit intro times so your DJs can easily do "ramp talks."
The "Playlist Editor" allows you to add songs from the database, and change pre-selected mixer options. A highlight is the automatic fade scan that lets you check all fades before you go on air.
When you are ready to entertain, the "On Air Studio" quickly loads and starts any play list. It shows you the upcoming song or commercial, the remaining time to the end of the current song, the upcoming song's intro length (so you know how long you can talk), and much more. You can mix-in a jingle or any other database item.
The "On Air Analyzer" shows statistics about titles you have played in the "On Air Studio," and detailed information about every song in your database.
The "On Air Editor" lets you change your current play list. For example, you can insert a special broadcast very quickly. Any person in your network who has permission can do this.
The "Autoplay Manager" tells the "On Air Studio" to play your lists automatically at the date and time you want them. This is an effective tool if you want to be on air when you cannot be in the studio.
The "Database Connector" is a standard module that connects you to any available DRS 2006 database, whether on your PC or on a network database server. It enables you to build a radio-station network with separate PCs for each program module.
