This early beta release isn't quite finished, but it works like a charm and provides easy access to the MP3 audio files you want. Sign up for a free account, and SongSpy scans your hard drives for MP3 music files. You can share the files you want and deem any folders on your PC as "shared." Just enter an artist or song title to quickly retrieve a list of titles that you can add to your collection. Multithreading is provided to take full advantage of high-speed modems.

Beyond the basics, SongSpy also offers an impressive integrated MP3 player with full playlist support.

Other features include a custom skinned interface, instant messages, system-tray support, and audio support. Chat and plug-in support should be coming soon. On the downside, there's no way to see the connection speed of others in the network, or to apply connection-speed filters. Also, the SongSpy interface imposes a noticeable strain on system resources.

Songspy runs on Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/Windows 10/11 and is available under the Freeware license — the installer is 2 MB. We’ve catalogued it under Audio and MP3.
