Overview

What is Phocasa?

Phocasa : Simple and portable photo viewer and editor with support for common filetypes, as well as view, rotate, crop, scale and flip options

In depth

A closer look at Phocasa

Phocasa is a user-friendly and portable image viewer that offers support for JPG, PNG, GIF and BMP files, in addition to some basic editing options, such as rotate, crop, scale and flip. It caters to beginner users and those looking for a straightforward photo viewer and editor without complicated options.

Portable tool with intuitive interface

The entire application's packed in a single .exe file that you can save to a custom location on the disk or copy to a USB flash drive to directly run on any machine without previous setup. It doesn't require DLLs to run, create files on the HDD without permission, or add new entries to the Windows registry. A traditional file deletion is needed to uninstall it.The GUI is represented by a large window that presents the general, viewing and adjustment options, along with the file information in a well-structured layout on the right side of the window, while the remaining part of the screen is dedicated to the photo display.

View, edit and save photos

It's possible to zoom in and out, pan the image, view its full or best size, rotate it to left or right by 90 degrees, crop it by adjusting the margins and by viewing the new point and size, scale it by moving a slider to drag the corners, as well as flip it vertically or horizontally.File information reveals the name, format, size, resolution and format. Plus, you can open its location in your default file browser with one click from the main window.Other options in Phocasa are reserved for saving the edited picture to the original file or a new one, which may have an extension different than the source. Moreover, you can restore the photo to its default settings, as long as you haven't already saved it.

Finally

To wrap it up, Phocasa comes bundled with standard, yet practical features for viewing images with common filetypes and performing quick tweaks. CPU and RAM usage was minimal in our tests.
