Screen grabbing utilities are not exactly a rare thing these days as they come in various shapes, with or without a price tag; but having multiple choices has always benefited the user, who in most cases has to decide between the features of such a program before making a pick.Super Pick includes two modules, one for taking still screens of the desktop and the other intended for recording video.All the necessary dependencies (FFDShow) are included with the application so the user does not have to look for additional downloads in order to make it work properly.

Image capture

The main application window shows a clear view of the options and how the program works. The settings available permit defining the storage path for the captures, choosing between one of the two image formats supported (JPG or BMP) as well as setting the number of times for repeating the capture or the hotkey for triggering the grab.The screenshot shortcut can trigger either a fullscreen capture or a user-defined, rectangular area, and this has to be set beforehand.. There are no other options for image capturing, such as support for automatic detection of application windows or their menus.

Video recording

The same capture options are available for video recording but the menu also includes the possibility to enable panning. One interesting aspect is that the file that results initially is not a video but a collection of individual images that are actually the frames of the movie.They are rendered through a built-in player that permits adding more frames and switching to a faster or slower play speed. All the data can be saved to a video format (FLV, SWF or MP4), though, using the FFDShow encoder.

Finally

Super Pick hasn’t received an update in a long while and its capabilities have become obsolete as development advances kept coming for this kind of software. It still works to some extent but its features do not accommodate the modern user.
