Overview

What is Oxide?

is an addictive vertical-scrolling shoot-'em-up.

In depth

A closer look at Oxide

You face waves of alien ships, and a boss at the end of each level. Oxide has detailed graphics and a classic arcade style of play. The game is difficult, and your enemies have powerful weapons that rapidly reduce your life energy. Evading enemy fire is at least as important to your survival as destroying their ships. Energy powerups are thin on the ground, and you get only one life. Other powerups include missiles, bombs, and shielding. You can get them by blowing up storage silos or by buying them at the beginning of each level.

In two-player mode, both players' ships are onscreen at the same time. It's a little difficult to set up the controls for two players, as both have to use the keyboard, and many keys can't be configured.
