From the menu you can choose the measure unit to display the distances in.You can rotate the Earth however you want, but this feature is somehow annoying since the world can end up upside down after too much dragging around. However, you can have the program remember which way is North and even lock the map in that position. This makes finding your way around the globe a lot easier. Also, the map can display country borders, which further helps you locate things.In order to see a list of all the countries and cities logged by the software, you can click on the corresponding buttons on the interface. To automatically get taken to a certain place, you only have to click on any of the entries.The program can be displayed both in full screen and in windowed mode. Also, the app synchronizes with your computer clock and lets you know where on the globe it’s daytime and where it’s night. The software can also act as screensaver.You can choose how the world is displayed from the screensaver “Settings” menu. You can either select one of the existing presets or adjust the values yourself. Thus, you can modify the colors for the high ground or fiddle with the texture settings and opacity. Despite the fact that the changes are made to the screensaver, they also apply to the program.All in all, 3D World Map is an interesting app with a great look. Figuring out all the ins and outs of the software requires a bit of time, mostly due to the large palette of options.
