In depth
A closer look at SmartSum (16-bit)
This program has a variety of features that the traditional printing calculator simply do. For example, you can go back and correct an entry that you keyed in incorrectly, insert an additional item that you missed out, or delete an item you accidentally entered twice. The program can optionally "speak" the digits as you enter them, so there is no need to look up to ensure correct keying. Subtotals can be incorporated and removed as you need, and there is the ability to "tick-off" each entry when checking work. Calculations can be titled, saved, and printed. Select the number of decimal places of accuracy. If you change the decimal accuracy the whole sequence of calculations is repeated and rounded at the new precision. Use the "Tax" buttons to easily calculate the tax-exclusive price or tax-inclusive price. A macro option lets you record repetitive calculations, and a number of useful macros (such as unit conversions) are included. There is an interface to Excel or any other spreadsheet, and clipboard support to allow copying of the tally roll to another application.
