uses 3D animation, voice, and original music to teach preschoolers the alphabet.
Young children can learn the unique shape and name of every letter in the alphabet, and learn to recognize the vowels.
Click a letter of the alphabet at the bottom of the screen to hear its name and to place it on the central block. A balloon floats up each time you click on a vowel, and they are displayed at the right. You can spin the block in any direction, revealing other letters.
Click on any letter on the block to start and stop its animation and music. All four letters on a block can animate and play music at the same time. Try different combinations to create different rhythms. The music is based on a variety of musical styles and cultural traditions -- ranging from Indian ragas to jazz to Latin music to ambient.
After all vowels have been found you can play a game of darts. The vowels recite themselves after you have popped all the balloons.
FamiliarBlocks also lets you print out the alphabet to color with crayons.
