Thought for the Day is a tiny widget created for computers running Yahoo! Widget Engine, which shows a random thought of the day obtained from Warhammer 40,000, the tabletop miniature wargame which takes place in a dystopian science-fantasy universe.Yahoo! Widget Engine is no longer an ongoing project. However, the software framework is still operational so it can be downloaded and installed. To integrate it with the engine's dock, it's only necessary to double-click the downloaded file of Thought for the Day and confirm the action.There is no logo available for the dock widget. The small panel separately displayed retrieves a quote from the universe of Warhammer 40K, so users should check their active Internet connection since it cannot work without one.Quotes include "Heresy grows from idleness", "By the manner of their death, we shall know them", "If a job's worth doing, it's worth dying for" and "The only true peace lies in death". The current quote can be replaced with a new one by clicking the only button displayed in the frame. If its number of characters exceeds the frame size, then text scrolls from right to left.As far as widget preferences are concerned, the skin can be set to blue, aqua, graphite, indigo, ruby or sage from obsidian. Thanks to the fact that Yahoo! Widget Engine contains several built-in options that apply to all gadgets, it's also possible to set the window level from normal to on top or below other panels, ask the app to ignore mouse events and dragging, as well as change the transparency.
