In depth

A closer look at Wax

Wax is a software that helps you create and add special effects for video files. The user interface of the program is simple and navigating through it may seem a little confusing at first. You can get started by importing media files into the project and placing them on the timeline. Just as well, you can move around the timeline and use general editing tools, such as delete, move, crop and insert. Additionally, you can use plugins to add effects to your media, as transition presets. Thus, you will be able to generate texture, apply quick 3D and "RotoMate", stretch pixels, warp, shatter image and add a chroma key.You can also position, rotate and scale an object in 3D space, map the video on 3D objects, create a light that shines on 3D objects, add 3D text, use particles to simulate fire, water, smoke, and others, load 3D models and objects from external files, and more.Transition presets include 3D models, balls and cylinders, bars, circles, crossing, cubes, fade in and out, fold, liquid, panes, replace, rolling balls, shatter, slide, spin, split, and others.Furthermore, you can add various plugin presets, such as colors, flashing windows, noise, molecules frames, shapes, colored screen, split screen, video walls, windows etc, as well as DirectX plugins and transitions.Wax also allows you to use a preview window, the "Undo" and "Redo" buttons and AviSynth scripts, as well as render quality by using hardware acceleration, save projects, include and exclude third-party plugins, and more. The program uses a moderate to high amount of system resources, includes comprehensive user documentation and didn't freeze or crash during our tests.First-time users would probably feel more comfortable with a program that has a more intuitive interface. Since Wax comes with advanced video editing settings, we mainly recommend it to power users.
