Multi-Prog is a small software application whose purpose is to help you graphically program Atmel microcontrollers with the aid of a flowchart or visual programming language, so-called Grafcet.This program is designed specifically for giving teachers the power to explain programming notions using graphical elements.

User interface and importing options

Multi-Prog adopts a clean and simple interface that allows you add data from GRO file format. The app reveals a list with some templates that you can use in order to get used to working with the program’s capabilities.There’s also support for a help manual that gives you detailed information about each feature of the tool. You can use the drag-and-drop support for adding graphical objects in the working environment.

Defining a new microcontroller configuration

Multi-Prog allows you to create a brand-new configuration by selecting the microcontroller, quartz frequency, programming language, name of input/output, analogical input, functions, procedures, libraries and other various variables.

Other handy features

The tool gives you the possibility to compile the program, select or delete elements, print data, alter interruptions/peripherals (timer, serial link RS232, output PWM, LCD display, link I2C), transfer the utility, as well as check out the flowchart and variables in real time (degubbing mode).

Bottom line

All in all, Multi-Prog comes with a decent feature pack for helping you program Atmel microcontrollers but the GUI is not at all intuitive so you may spend some extra time in order to experiment with the built-in parameters and consult the help manual. On the downside, the program hasn’t been updated for a while so it may cause compatibility issues on newer operating systems.
