Garfield 2 Desktop Kitty is a simple widget developed for the Yahoo! Widget Engine that shows an animation with Garfield, the well-known comic-strip character, along with quotes from the second Garfield motion picture. It is easy to install and set up.The interface of the tool is represented by an animation of Garfield, who is either taking a nap or performing some short skits for the viewer's pleasure. You can move this frame to any position on the screen, with the help of the mouse cursor.Double-clicking any part of the small window brings up a speech balloon with one of Garfield's sayings, but immediately disappears the moment you move the cursor away from the frame.Unfortunately, Garfield 2 Desktop Kitty does not come equipped with any configuration settings of its own. However, thanks to the Yahoo! Widget Engine platform, you can open the Widget Preferences area to make some adjustments. Therefore, you can set the frame to stay on top or below all the other windows, to ignore mouse events and to prevent dragging. Plus, you can set its opacity to a preset value between 20% and 100%.The widget is very light on the system resources, has a good response time and worked well during our evaluation, without hanging, crashing or popping up error dialogs; we have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation. All in all, Garfield 2 Desktop Kitty should please all fans of Garfield, who want to get a glimpse of their favorite comic-strip character on their desktop from time to time.
